Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)#

The AAIP allows Alberta to nominate individuals for permanent residence who have the skills and abilities to fill labor shortages in the province.

Program Streams#

  • Alberta Opportunity Stream: For foreign workers who are already working full-time in Alberta and have a job offer from an Alberta employer.

  • Alberta Express Entry Stream: For candidates with an Express Entry profile who have strong ties to Alberta or who can help support the government’s economic development and diversification priorities.

  • Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway: For Express Entry candidates working in Alberta’s tech industry.

  • Rural Renewal Stream: For workers with a job offer from an employer in a designated rural Alberta community.

Application Process#

  1. Determine Eligibility: Review the specific requirements for each stream.

  2. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI): For certain streams, submit an EOI to indicate your interest.

  3. Receive a Notification of Interest (NOI): Selected candidates receive an NOI from the province.

  4. Submit Application: Complete and submit the application within the specified timeframe.

  5. Nomination: If approved, receive a provincial nomination to apply for permanent residence.
